I have finally achieved a 6-figure net worth! One small goal - which doesn't mean a ton in the long run. I'm going to keep it all up. But it still feels good. This is a slightly skewed view, as being married means that there is a lot else going on. We are continuing to operate debt-free. We want to purchase a new house in the spring, and are saving as aggressively as possible for that (in an interest-earning savings account through the small local bank we hope to fund our house purchase). It seems that it will be possible to purchase a new house without it being critical that we sell the one in which we currently live. That is the best feeling! The current house needs a variety of updates and maintenance, and doing that all once we are no longer living in it will be the easiest way. Whether we then sell the house, or keep it and rent it out, is yet to be seen. Neither one of us are super-excited about the idea of being landlords, but I have heard friends mention recently that there is a dearth of options for renters in our city. So maybe there is a need that we could fill. Stay tuned. We continue to make the paid-for farm share, which ends later this month, the bulk of what we eat, aiming to waste no part of it. We eat out once in a while, and try to do that without guilt! I continue to use my Southwest card for as much as I can. We went to Florida for free this year - AND earned another pair of free round-trip tickets to anywhere AirTran flies as a result of our flight being delayed a few hours. I also just went to Chicago for free. I am also planning to fly my parents somewhere next year for a milestone birthday. Progress is good - life is good!

Making progress! Paid off my car and my husband's car. Just have some money to pay on the mortgage and we'll be totally debt-free. Also trying to beef up my savings in various areas. The markets are cooprating, at least for now! Selling some things online for extra cash, doing surveys online for frequent flyer miles to be able to travel for free in the future. Life feels good right now!

Lots has changed since I last updated! I got married in July. Everything went swimmingly. We mostly paid as we went, but did receive some gifts that enabled us to pay any remaining bills and take a two-week honeymoon with no outstanding debt. Luckily, we are both very goal-driven and have the same ends in mind! Of course, the numbers above are slightly inaccurate now, as our finances are merged. But the above are those items that pertain just to me. I paid off my car, and now we're working on paying off my husband's car and the mortgage on the house he had owned, while working on a down payment for a new house. You can see we have a ways to go. But the year is young - and my expenses are down! This is all attainable this year, if we live leanly. I can't decide if I would like to take a grand trip or just focus on being thrifty. I recently upped the percentage of my pay going directly into my 401K, just slightly, to achieve the maximum company match (10% of my salary). I also made the change to reinvest the dividends that I get from my stock holdings, instead of getting the small bits of cash. This way I will get the benefits of compounding! Could this be the year I achieve a 6-figure net worth? Depends on a lot of things, not least of which is the market! And if I am counting things like the house and cars. By some measures, I am already there. And, of course, it is a bit of an arbitrary figure when the real goal is to just keep applying my resources to the goals in front of me! But I know it will feel great when that day comes!

The value of my investments is plummeting! Oh well: buy low, sell high! Plodding along. All available cash will likely be used for the wedding in, now, less than two months! I feel good about everything. Hopefully we will be able to get through it debt-free, and perhaps use any gifts to pay off the new furnace my fiance just had to buy for the house we'll live in together. It will make it more salable!

Next goals are to pay off my car, keep working on a good EF, and then to work on a house fund. Oh! And definitely to not hold onto the storage unit I got to ease this transition for very long.

Moving along! Getting married in less than 3 months, so most of my available cash (not the IRA, 401K) will be applied toward that. Immediate goals after that will be to handle any outstanding payments for the wedding and honeymoon (though the plane tickets, at least, were FREE thanks to my diligent use of the Southwest card!), then, longer term, to address the HELOC my fiance has taken out to pay for some home repairs, making aggressive payments on his mortgage (since I won't me making that rent payment every month!), paying off my car and taking away that monthly payment, and saving all the while (and hoping that the markets cooperate) to the next milestone - a 6-figure net worth!
